Your choice of color always amazes me. Do you really manage to choose the right colors, or do you adjust them? I use gradient masks really frequently.

I prefer not to do much adjustment after the painting is done, but I do use the levels/colour balance tool underway to see what colours I can pick to get such and such effect.
This one is one of the few pictures that I cranked up the contrast and changed the hue on after finishing up – I just couldn’t make the colour-scheme look good.
