Ah, yes, the infamous game of chess. I have heard of people being able to checkmate with a pawn, but other pieces are usually used to lure the king to the desired spot. Let the critique commence! (By the way, awesome work as always Akecai)
Vision: There's definitely some improvement with textures. I'm not a person who is familiar with how textures are placed, but it definitely adds more dimension and complexity to the work. Perhaps a park as a background would do some good since the textures of the chessboard and table remind me of the parks that have chessboards painted on it.
Originality: Given that Sans is a genius in his right, it makes sense how he would be the one to play chess (I bet he could even play it blindfolded e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="
Technique: The lines are straight (I can't do straight line even if my life depended on it) and Sans' skeleton shadows are done nicely. However, a couple of pointers: first, San's left hand (the one holding his head) looks like it has a thumb sticking out and not a pinkie. Usually in human anatomy, thumbs are always facing away from the viewer when they are not angled. Second, shading around the neck and sleeves where the hands meet would be good. It just gives a more 3D effect. Just a thought if that's wht you're going for.
Impact: For Undertale fans who find Sans a loveable character would definitely agree that he is a chess master (the game implies he was previously a scientist of some sort). I bet they would even enjoy a round of chess. Maybe to those who don't play the game much may want to pass, but if they join anyway, I don't think Sans would mind going a bit easy on them. After all, he went easy on Frisk (depending on the ending you got).

You can but their has to be other pieces on the board ready to back up the pawn should it get taken. I did it once before. I had my queen, bishop, rook, and knight backing up my pawn. I have the picture too.

Its possible and if you get the pawn across the board to the enemy side it can become a queen, but that may be another game I'm thinking of for the chess board. Its been awhile since I've played.

Noice and same here. I got lucky with my checkmate though. I didn't realize it until it was pointed out. I got a checkmate with a pawn, but it turned out that my other pieces (rook, bishops, knight and queen) were blocking any path to take.
