I, without wings, gaze upon the same stars

That you for some reason find no beauty in

And yet you soar the skies with serene grace

Disregarding me who is grounded to the earth

I, without wings, raise my hands to up above

Trying to accomplish what you already had

With such supreme ease, as if it were a game

While I must fight and struggle to do the same

I, without wings, can only cry to the heavens

As you mock me from the tower up on above

So I crafted my waxwings in order to ascend

But as I neared greatness, I fell into the flames

I, without wings, have been reaching but now fall

For you and the stars are so beyond my reach

The road that I face ahead is full of twists and turns

That may very well lead me astray and stranded

And yet I shall continue to fight on and struggle

For I, without wings, will someday learn how to fly
