I think they do Just looking at the different fics and interpretations makes me think of that. And indeed, I think there's the canon story and then a bunch of little adorable AUs that are all the fans' works. Thinking this way pushes every jealousy away

Yep. If you think about even the cannon has it's own AU's. Armada, RID, the new movie, animated, Cybertron, all the Japanese stuff, etc.
