I just used pencil and paper. And photoshop.
^^ At first I mucked around with it in color, shading their skin and hair and clothes and so on separately, and then when the whole thing came together, I desaturated everything, kept the shading and decided to limit the palette. Too much color took away from the cooler quieter feelings I was going for.
Like... surviving together in the middle of a snow storm. Heh.
