Description Commission for who asked me to draw 's dragon Shale .

The inspiration for the background was that 'Shale' sounds like 'hail' which is similar to snow which can be found in freezers which also contain frozen peas which can be eaten with sausages and occasinaly mountains ... therefore Shale is in some high mountainy place.

The whole picture took a surprisingly short amount of time - a nice change, and it also chased away a possibly oncoming art-block that's been brewing threateningly at the back of my mind for a while .

Awww, how sweet of them. I remember receiving a request serving a similar purpose.

Anyway, this piece is just absolutely beautiful, no matter how little time was devoted to its conception. The picture displays such a beautiful monotony in the colour tones representing the atmosphere of the picture, the scant tint of gold shafting through the petulant, frigid weather prevailing to tinge the overall composition with a sense of nostalgia that I just can't shake (Or perhaps it's because I'm listening to this song while gazing at the picture: [link] ). The dragon's details are very beautiful, too. The scale effect is so simple, subtle, and yet properly applied to a strongly decent shading that could serve just as artistic independently, the result reaching a semi-realistic scale - No pun intended -. The lankiness of the pose and anatomy is also very majestic, much like a lioness on a hunt. And that blizzard just makes the picture so beautiful... I won't kid you, this picture makes my eyes water. It's so beautiful!!

Awesome work!! Don't stop producing these amazing pieces.

Good work on drawing all those scales and small details on the body. Although i must say that "nose" could use some more shadows, it's just completely white in some areas, which makes it look completely flat.
With the BG i can say that you did great work on the hail, but the snow looks very strange. It's something between water and smoke. It's not very noticeable, because overall it's a well drawn picture, with lots of detail on the character and background.
