When I looked at them, we can be happy that this is AU pairing. The Dark Lord was difficult enough to conquer, I prefer not to guess how it might end up if he had had a Dark Queen. Ok, I terrible pessimist, then in such pairing it is easier for me to imagine Varda falling into darkness than Melkor coming back into the light, but who knows? Nevertheless, poor Manwe would be left alone when wife escaped with his own brother. I can imagine the whole competition of all women in the neighbourhood to "comfort" him. Who could be a lucky winner? This can be fan-fiction story.

Nice, I really like the pose and facial expressions. Also great job on those hands (hands are always hard to do). Nice light effect there on his crown. The mood/atmosphere is really good, I can see/feel the affection. What I don't really like is the color scheme on the right side of the image (his side). It's because the left part (her part and his hand) looks way more detailed/cleaner/brighter. But thumbs up!

Actually, if I recall corectly, at the begenning of Times, Melkor and Manwë were in competition for Varda's heart, and she finally choose Manwë because of Melkor's seed of darkness. So it could have been canon ! (or it could also be a depiction before Varda's choice and the Great Song)
Anyway, this is a splendid painting, very touching (and GO Varda's light hair version !
