Β This is a spectacular image; it is difficult to believe that you drew this up painstakingly by hand instead of merely hopping into the nearest Time Machine and begging Old Homer the Bard for a moment of his time β¦Β Β

Wow, thank you for this. Though it's obviously a painting, I can't help but imagine someone went back in time & took a photo of him.

Impressive! How alive! I would guess this was painted from a live model, as the asymmetry of the eyes is something one would not usually carry so far- but it's one of the thing that make the face alive. The treatment of the hair and beard remind me of the Flemish Old Masters.

this is an homeric piece of work. bigger than life. the hair , the beard , all the riddles of the face. and these poignant empty eyes . you are a very dedicated artist. thank you

WOW. Β Even just to be able to SEE the face of someone from such an ancient time in your mind is impressive, and then to be able to render it with such convincing detail and even what looks to me like period-accurate clothing (very noticeable given how many anachronisms one sees)...outstanding.

How is it possible to do the beard and hair like this please... Your work is totally beautiful and like the old masters even. Just so talented.

Like I said...so much talent. It's some of the best work other than the great masters I ever see.
I think some people are just born with certain gifts as if inherited from others in the past and do things we mere mortals can't. I know if you do it for years you get good at it for sure but how does some 6 year old get that?? Or some blind person paint masterpieces or the deaf compose the classics??? I have so few answers ut the arts make me believe stronger in God and that some good things so exist in life.
Without the arts...kids and animals I'd be lost in this crummy world of people.
This earth is a masterpiece but man seems to runin just everything anymore.
Thanksa so much for being so kind as to take the time to answer...you're a good person and thanks.
