- ivysaur has officially joined the team!
- and we also get a real meeting with the champion ;y the champion position is very political, as are gym leader positions, and since gym leaders have their own agendas and provincial loyalties, there is often tension between new champions and gym leaders (hedy is the only one with the personal grudge, though! the other gym leaders may dislike anthea for other reasons)
- ulrich of course doesn't think much of anthea for obvious reasons :y

I AM /SO/ READY SNOOZE, AFTER THE LAST CLIFFHANGER YOU LEFT US ON.
The first panel is really atmospheric, with the soft dawning light gently illuminating the room. It gives such a peaceful, warm tone to the panel. The little sparkles/dust particles in the sunbeams are a wonderful touch. Ah, and the shading/folds on the bed covers are really flowing and wonderful to boot. Even the off-center pillow almost falling off Roman's empty bed ties it all together.
(P.S: Sasha's lil ponytail is so adorable and I die ;v;
I forgot to mention this last update I think, but I very much appreciate it)
Looks like Roman left early in the morning, but he also left a note--properly about his whereabouts/that he left and will return later.
So, he's walking the empty streets...Lumoise at dawn is so eerie, without all the people bustling about. It makes the buildings seem taller and more ominous.
Not to mention, holy hell those buildings are so well-drawn and proportioned??? Wtf snooze, how are you good at drawing architecture on top of everything else >:V
Ah, the smoke effect is so cool!! It's sort of this early-morning fog that comes up when it's sort of cold. It definitely helps to emphasize on how deserted the streets are.
THE CAFE!! THE PERSPECTIVE ON IT IS SO AWESOME WTF
It makes Roman--whos already quite small in stature--seem even smaller. Him looking up at the sign and sweating also shows his anxiety and how completely outclassed he feels in this situation.
That interior shot of the cafe is gorgeous, too. The neutral color scheme, full of creams and light sea blues are really aesthetically pleasing to look at. It's really calming, and classy.
It also really helps in having Nika pop out, especially that fiery mane of his
Overall, the panel has good foreshortening. The walls fall back through the space well. The chairs have interesting designs, and are placed well in the space, in relation to the tables and the bar.
Nika looks as good from the back as he does from the front 
In all seriousness his hair is gorgeous wtf.
Plus, I just noted that the designs on the chairs make it easy for the gijinka to stick their tails through?? Which is an amazing detail and thing to take into consideration, like...wow.
Roman is definitely not going to trust anyone with his secret of having been Vacant anytime soon. Not after Ulrich dismissed him and chastised him. He aint gonna tell Lion-man shit :V
The three panels you paced his response was nice in showing how much he hesitated, before lying. And even then, he stutters and sweats a bit, It's a good little character moment.
Hmmm, Sycamore sounds really mysterious. He apparently abandoned his labs in Lumoise, and hasn't shown up since...I wonder why he'd leave everything he's worked so hard for, and not told anyone, just...went off the map. Hm.
Wait. Now Nika is the head of his labs--or at least someone really high up. And he's fishing for information from Roman.
The dark look he shoots Roman could be from the fact that the boy is lying to him...or because him lying is covering for Sycamore, and he doesn't like that. He wants information.
Side-note: hOOOO boy that panel though is amazing. His no-nonsense expression, the drastically different lighting--it reminds me of when villains from Disney films get those scenes that show how evil they are.

Zoinks, Scoob, he's onto Roman!
Roman just holding his hand and scooting backwards, incredibly wary...Good, fox son, good.
And Nika realizes that he almost stepped the line. Roman is still a minor, and he was close to forcing Roman to give his hand and scrutinize it, which would've opened the door to him essentially interrogating the boy. That's morally ambiguous, at the best, and downright yikes at the worst. Plus, this is a public space, and having him grab at the kid could make him either fight back or cause a scene. Definitely not a good thing.
But Nika does note firefox's anxiousness--which is pretty damn obvious--and checks himself, pulling back. He then takes his tea, puts on a smile, and pretends that he's peachy-keen. Playing it all off and to keep looking like a decent guy. If he scares the boy off, after all, there goes his possible information source over Sycamore's possible whereabouts
I wouldn't be looking into Nika's actions in this negative light if he hadn't cast it upon himself. He does well in hiding his need for word about the professor, at the start, before he slips into something darker and almost demanding.
Plus, the panel right before he says "fair enough" shows only from the mouth down. We don't even need to see his full expression or his eyes to know that he's not happy for Roman not letting him get his way and/or getting any concrete information from him. It's a lull, but it tells a lot about him.
It's also interesting--and suspicious--that we don't get to see his entire face for a number of panels after another. Like, other than the panel where he gives a picture-perfect smile, we only see him from the mouth-down and rifling around.
First of all--ohhhh shit, a Mega bracelet?
Second--where the fuck did he pull that from, his pocket??
Third-- if yes to the above, how did it even FIT there? It's pretty big and bulky. Plus it must be heavy. It looks heavy.
Nika is not above bribing a teenager to get on his good side :V
And possibly using this as an opportunity for data/a free experimentee. Not like the kid'll know, right?
Roman: the frickle frackle is this?
Nika: Your doom
Nika: I mean--a bracelet. A very nice and shiny and helpful bracelet.
Roman: Uh, cool, thanks.
Roman internally: Seriously, wtf am I supposed to do with this...
But anyways--whooo, Mega Evolution!! Can't wait till that pops up later hopefully without dire consequences or things going horribly wrong

And eating--is that toast or a pastry?? I'd like to say toast, just for the whole 'running late to school in an anime' thing. But it's probably some sort of tart.
She's so casual around Nika. Must know him really well, or for a long time. He also sasses her back and it's pretty hilarious.
Roman looks so nervous, poor kid xD He's just sitting there, crossing his arms and sort of watching Anthea with a wary and worried eye.
That perspective on the panel where she introduces herself tho!!! YOOO it's so good. The hand breaking the panel, the foreshortening, the angle--makes it seem we're Roman in the situation, all small and having this buff stranger offer their hand to us to shake.
The placement of the next few panels are also really fun and dynamic!!
Anthea has absolutely no concept of personal space. Poor Roman almost gets hauled out of his chair by her taking a closer look at his burned hand
Poor kid should'be probably wrapped his entire hand up...to hide the burn away B)

Those were some really nice effects on her power...Was that a psychic move, or an electric one? The spark tell me electric, the glow tells me Psychic/fairy...Unless its both. Which is still hella cool :000
Seems like Nika is the logical, careful one between the pair of friends, and keeps homegirl in check
This is a good thing, Anthea just seems like she's got no breaks and does things without thinking.

And it just overall doin that whole thing that teenagers do where they act out against their parents to go angst
While Ulrich is sighing like a tired parent xD
I love the panel where they're at the gates. It's got a nice background--the bricks are lovely, the actual gate itself is structured nicely, and the bit of background showing the winding path of the route looks really pretty.
Plus, we get to see the team's different heights and silhouettes in relation to one another.

Anthea is really not how I imagined her, But I love it !
She seems really interesting, because you're making her seem like a total bad guy, but we know you are good with character making because all of your character have a really "human" personality, like, they're not all the way bad or good. So I'm looking foreward to see more of her !

Lysandre's curls are on fleek . Id trade my darn soul to get luscious curls like those . He must take a very long time to at least curl one huge portion of hair .

also, I love how illusive Sycamore is?? Because of the game's plot, I was expecting to see him again before leaving Lumiose, but no-- which is great, honestly. Gives it more tension, gives Roman more time to learn and grow without the professor.
