Description Sorry it's so huge, but I didn't want to submit multiple views.

Re-creation of Kylie Minogue's "Absinthe Fairy" costume, from Moulin Rouge.

The corset's boned with spiral steel boning, heavy twill cotton exterior with lightweight cotton lining. Hand-sewn rows of 1 1/2"-wide sequin trim, with hand-cut/measured/sewn sequin fringe around the bottom. The fabric is dyed silk chiffon, played by ear and came out lucky. There's a snap to keep the silk in place on one side on the back, that way it's a hell of a lot easier to get into. Took a long time, but man, was it worth it. It's my favorite personal project to date.

Great work! Do you have some sort of briefs to wear with the corset, or is the corset like a leotard?

Thank you! I did make a pair of briefs to go with the corset - they're covered in the same sequin trim. I do wish I'd made this more like a Playboy bunny corset/leotard, but when I was working on it, I didn't even think about that as an option!

Mind, making a corset-leotard would be a bit hard to get into, what with the boning, unless the bottom part fastened with snaps or something. Briefs are a lot more practical

Hi! I included this deviation in a news article in honor of Costumery Week in the Artisan Crafts gallery. --> [link]

Thank you! I appreciate the heads-up. Just for gallery sorting reference, though, this is actually a cosplay corset. The character is Kylie Minogue's Green Fairy from "Moulin Rouge".

Ah, sorry about that. I started the article with the cosplay and fantasy corsets together, and I must have pulled it to the wrong section. I remember reading that in the description. You did a lovely job.

How gorgeous!
It really has that Victorian look to it...
And the surrealness of a drug dream...

You have to model it!

I knew right away from the title and thumbnail what it was fashioned after So I had to go in for a closer look!
AWESOME! Yeah... I'd like to see it modeled too

Of course, the one they used in the movie was actually flesh colored, so they could turn it and her skin both green with computers. XP Excuse me, I just know way too much about that movie.
Anyway, this is really incredible. Just gorgeous. The sequins must have taken forever. Do we get to see pics of you modeling it?

I do remember reading that somewhere! but as I don't have my own personal digital coloration device to take everywhere and turn myself green, i decided just to go ahead and make it green on its own.

And hahaha, i don't know... maybe if i can find time and a good location.

Pff, I don't know why not! XD I totally imagined you like, running around in that outfit all the time randomly from that comment.
Yeeeesss... pictuuuures! So then I'll know who I'm imagining running around in a green fairy costume.

lol! yep, i try to get outside and prance around as much as i possibly can in that skimpy sparkly green corset. i tell you what - it's completely natural in these backwater southern towns. the little old ladies love it.
