I know this has been overused since it was a DD, but I liked it and wanted to use it, and I didn't see anything similar to this. I'm sure there are tons of similar pieces out there though, I just haven't run across them. Hope you like it.

I think I know what you mean. You could try changing the red in the pic of the twins to some complimenting color rather than the very bright red. In paintshop there is an automatic color balance control that I use alot. It changes the type of light on the pic anywhere from dim firelight all the way up to cold winter sunlight. I use it when ever things contrast too much it seems to balance things out nicely once you get the hang of using it, and you can freehand select the area you wish to change, and only effect that part so nothing else in the piece will be changed. You could also just go in with a paintbrush and colorise the red areas.

Well, I made all the colors light and pastel to create the harsh contrast because I like the way it looks.
I have a piece where she's darker and wearing a black dress, but I enjoy the contrast.

It is a nice piece. I like it myself. I only mentioned it because of the comments. The contrast between the dark and high color in the frame, and the low color, and somewhate duller colors in the outer pic works pretty well, but by reading your comments I thought you were unsatisfied with it.
