Description This little pearl is meant to be for one of the newest posters of my school [link]
I wanted to do a speedpaint of it but we had camera issues and it has been recorded only six minutes of all the process, most of which i spent preparing, setting the music, and stuff so it wasn't useful not even in the slightest.
The characters are Reeve, the blondie, Siyun, the little guy, and 's character Zyrren, the tiny black dragon in the blondie's bag. Siyun is a little fire dragon but it seems that he uses his fighting spirit to get sh*t done rather than fighting xD
For once i wanted to picture a manly man in a poster lol. And well, Reeve is the manliest figure-wise, but inside he has the heart of a kitten.
Same characters of:

Tools: Copic multiliners, Copic sketch markers, Milky white gel pen, sweat, on an A4 piece of Fabriano watercolor paper, 120gm.
Also i made for a friend a color chart, so i tought i might as well share. [link]

Axel Low's level in the 2D fighter on X-Box features a bunch of background characters running around...there's a few that really stand out, including a little kid that's running XD

aww thank you! these characters are probably the ones i spent most time planning than ever, yet they're the only ones i havent "released" fully to the public! xDD they come from a fantasy world tough, where dragons can transform themselves into partial humans.

That sounds nice! Will you draw that kind of humans? (Dragons able to transform into partial humans?) That would be interesting!

GAH baggie long time no see girl! and lol if i could i would seriously thelepatically transfer all of my artistic knowledge into all the artists of the world, like, seriously.
lol the scars were the most difficult part, to the point i messed up and had to over-shade, then i went over it with milky pen and SCRATCHED with a cutter the ink out of the corners. it was pretty damn ridiculous to see me fretting over those tiny pieces. xD
and d'aww i sure do love drawing hair! it's not difficult once one gets how to make the highlights look really right...
also thank you, i hopefully will xD

Yea those things are hard, I believe Traditional art is so complex compared to digital >< you can undo and erase cleanly digi but tradi theirs no goin' back!

Man I love your colors so freaken much, you use copics right??
I really need to get me some of those but they're so god dammed expensive!! >3<
Right now all I can afford is the blick markers, they don't do what copics do with the overlaying but I think they're pretty good~

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jundou In reply to CloverWoodss [2011-06-27 15:29:16 +0000 UTC]

well actually traditional offers me the easeness of going into detail and use subtle strokes without making people look like they're rubber-coated or something like it happens instead when i use digitals xD but of course digital medias makes you feel way more relaxed and you can go like "oh let's try this color" without having to worry at all.
and yes i use copics xD tough to get a decent picture you need a shitton of them... i have about 150 of them already and sometimes i still have an hard time finding this or that color that would fit perfectly. if you may need some advice about the essentials colors i'm all up for it, because one uses to get the worsts colors at first and with no shades, like one would buy a pack of pencils... and then you get demoralized when things looks like a punch in the eye xD i've been through that already. the advice i always give when buying starter copics is to not buy a pre-built pack but to get an empty 36-slots box and fill it with at least three shades of every color, all the most desaturated possible. (seriously, the sets they try to sell you are absolutely shitsome, i think they make them with the colors no one buys xD)

CloverWoodss In reply to Jundou [2011-06-27 15:41:04 +0000 UTC]

∑OAO No wai they really do that?? gah I was just gunna buy a pre-built pack but now that I think about it buying the one where you can put the ones you want in it is a LOT better.
Reminds me of my acrylic paint, teacher told me to buy a small mini set that doesn't cost that much and see what ones I use most then buy the bigger bottles of the ones you use most of.
Oh, How much is the 36 slots box one?? like a few hundred right?

I wouldn't mind advice on the essentials of colors xD mostly since I don't think I know what essentials of colors are.. XD pffff

Jundou In reply to CloverWoodss [2011-06-27 17:49:07 +0000 UTC]

I assume so because the colors are damn ugly and FLASHY oh god so flashy.
The 36 is about 130 if i recall well, but you are never sure when i talk about numbers xD anyways i would advise especially the E spectrum, i use the E0000, E000, E00, E01, E31 for skin, then i would advise for reds to pick an R06 and R28, they're some really nice red shades and work unexpectedly good with one another. Ditch the orange if you're not an orange lover, you'll be hardly using it, it's a color that screams over the paper and it's hard to put in a nice color composition. For yellows i advise Y11 and Y13, maybe YR21. As for greens, just take a ton of them because they're never enough and comes in handy in various situations, you might want to get more than one YG13 in the future because it's damn nice to use for grass backgrounds, other than that don't pick too dark greens because they get difficult to use... As blues, i'd disregard B06... It's one damn nice color but it's difficult to use. B00, B01 are perfect for the sky, and some darker shades like B14 and B23 (the B23 is the lightest in this case) are perfect for washed out jeans effect, which is a real nice effect i must say. BV spectrum is Blue/Violet and makes some great shades for night sky, i don't use them much but having such beautiful shades in my box alone makes me happy. Purple is difficult to use, if it's not a color you like much as me, but the better shades i have of it are V04 and V06. Other than those, that i'm naming only by memory so don't take it as perfect, there are E25 that's pure chocolate and an E shade that i only remember the name, "champagne" which is godly and can be used to shade about anything.
Also, C01 C03 C05 C07 are basic greys, yet cold. Warm greys are the most useful thing ever made from copics, W01 W03 W05 W07 are a must.
As i don't have anything worse to do, i'm gonna list the colors i used in this so you get an idea of the effect of those colors.

I'm crazy i know. Also, always use thick paper. Very, very thick paper.

Sorry to butt in the conversation... I was looking into copics and I ended up here XD but I can't find a R06 or a R28 on any chart and this confused me..

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jundou In reply to Spielodia [2011-08-31 14:02:43 +0000 UTC]

Well i think those do exist... I'm pretty sure they do. There are various charts, copic CIAO markers have like 180 colors if i recall correctly, while the copic Sketch markers have like 266 colors. It may be you caught an old, wrong or incomplete chart, as the colors keep increasing. I think those two came into the 72 set, the C set i think... Oh well. Anyways if you can't find exactely those colors -i still may be mistaken because i'm dyscalculic and numbers just confuses the hell out of my brain- a number upper or lower won't make a drastic difference. As i said i was naming all by memory and right now i can't look in my copic boxes so once again i can't be 100% sure of what i'm saying.
If you need any help about copics i'm always up for a chat, i always find it nice to help people when possible ;D

The sketch color chart has 346 colors (...too many to keep track of imo >< ) : [link] It's no big deal, just thought I'd ask ^^'
I get some colors confused a lot because they look like they overlap a lot (some reds and orange-ish colors in E, purples in B, etc @_@ ) and numbers confuse me too lol! Thanks for the reply and sorry, I din't mean to bother you or anything

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jundou In reply to Spielodia [2011-09-03 20:39:37 +0000 UTC]

Ah it's not a bother, i could go on for days chitchatting about copics xD
And well, the important is not the number or the letter, the important is how you like it ;D There are people who use V01 to shade skin for example, i myself have found the necessity to use B00 or some yellow while coloring skin. You'll make them soon your personal tool, and will know by istinct that if you feel like shading a yellow with a color of the E section you can fear not xD The worst that can happen is to get in a delicate situation, but the more difficult you make it, the fastest you'll learn!
I know that the first number means a different thing than the second number, it's like one is the saturation and the other is the section of the wheel or something... Too complicated to think, trying them has always worked! If you're unsure on how to use certain colors, make tries, overlapping and blending them with others, you may have unexpected yet pleasant results. As an example, i found the perfect tone for the little guy's shirt while futzing with combos and happened to stumble on the E70/E04 combination xD
