Description Since Idril is often seen only as Turgon’s daughter, I tried to portray her as a grown woman, not as young girl or as little princess. I just wish I could hail Idril as badass. Still, in the end she returned to Valinor, abandoning her son and her people. She didn’t do bad, considering the circumstances, but I have the feeling she likes the safety the society provides.

I wouldn't say that there's any dishonor or weakness in wanting safety and peace. She'd already helped save her people by commissioning the Way of Escape and trying to lead all that she could to it when Gondolin was burning around her. But just because she wasn't a warrior-woman like Eeowyn, don't be looking down on her. There more ways for women to be strong then fighting, some even more important.

More so, maybe Idril saw a chance for salvation and peace in sailing West and none wanted to follow yet? Every person has to grab their own salvation, and it shouldn't be sacrificed just because others in one's life can't or won't follow.

There WAS that part in The Fall of Gondolin where she thinks Tuor has been slain, so she dons some armor and gathers a bunch of elf women and they go around killing bands of orcs that are sacking the city. I thought that was pretty cool.

Idril is pretty cool, but I'm still holding it against her she left Beleriand. But thanks for the info, I had forgotten that part.
