Yes, Lily was cruel and faithless, and it's about time Sev recognized it.
#!$*&SocialClimber%&!@#UnforgivingBitch*@!
Sev is a social climber, too, of course, but he's doing it the right way, through ability, rather than by snagging a rich spouse. (RAB can be considered a rich spouse, but the pairing is so totally AU that it doesn't count.)

I can see where you got the impression that Lily was involved, the extract from "The Fountain of Fair Fortune" is, indeed, focused on the witch that suffered for a lost love. I won't question your interpretation, which (given the sentences I quoted) is legit, but I'd like to point out that that was not the direction I wanted the comic to take. Severus, in his grumpy speech, does not mention Lily: among the swear words and invectives I specified "Potter" and "Your Brother" (Sirius, of course) - I didn't even involve Lupin, or Pettigrew, in the rant, because what happened to cause such distress to Severus is not really the point of the comic. Maybe Gryffindor won the last Quidditch match thanks to Chaser Potter and Sirius gloated too noisily. Maybe all the Marauders got away with their last prank. Maybe he walked past James and Sirius in the library overhearing some stupid jokes.
The whole point is: Severus is upset and Regulus, who is sick and tired of his bad mood, cuddles him back to looseness by reading him a fairy tale, one of whose meaning is, generalizing "Let it go, the reason of your suffering is not worth your pain anymore". That's all.
I didn't want to drag Lily in this because it would have averted the attention from the main couple and, above all, because it would have clashed with my idea of the characters. In my opinion, Severus would not have thought of her a "social climber" or an "unforgiving b*tch". I don't believe those theories myself, and from what I perceived from the books, neither did Snape. I know we have different opinions about some of Snape's traits and about Lily, we already discussed some of these matters, so nothing new if I say we're not going to agree on this...
Actually, I'm sorry for the long answer (and I sincerely hope it didn't come out too harsh or something, because I'm really quiet and calm at my desk with no intention to be rude or anything)- in short: again, interpretation is free, but I can't really support a Lily-bashing one. It goes against all I believe about those characters.

I agree that Severus never thinks of Lily as a Social Climber or an Unforgiving Bitch. That's MY rant. I see Severus as ranting about James (who stole his love) and Sirius (who tried to kill him) and Dumbledore (who enslaved him with guilt) and Gryffindors in general, but never recognizing that his idealized Lily also treated him badly, and deserves her share of invective. We never see her comforting him the way Regulus does in your comic; it's all criticism.

Here, honey, have some fluff (albeit a few days late)! *throws fluff at you until you're dizzy*
You know, whenever I happen to come across one of these SS/RB-snippets of yours... *sighs dramatically* I most definitely am NOT an SS/RB-shipper and would prefer to remain that way. So kindly stop harrassing me with these - Merlin forbid! - utterly adorable comics!! Harrumph.

I find myself not quite fitting in any of the above mentioned schools, but instead lurking in the shadows in between (not wanting to be recognised)... I must thank you for welcoming me to the family, however, if only for the benefit of hiding behind their backs. Be aware that I am most certainly NOT looking forward to your next installment which will probably warm my heart again and, therefore, frighten me to death.

Mmh. I wish you to have Lady Luck returning on your side soon. This is still a high price to pay for an exam.

Severus is the Snark Master here: I wouldn't dare to put casual words in his mouth. Better keep it vague and leave it to him.

Since both of them are quite tragic character with a tragic background, I'm sure you' ll find a way to avoid the fluff. XD
