Okay, I had too many favorite mice and rats to go over the list and do both, so I figured I'd do at least one species at a time. Anyhow, here are my personal top 10 rats that I like:

10. Werner Werman (Cuphead): Here we have one of the most interesting of the characters of Inkwell Isles (aside Carla, Grim, Hilda, and Beppi). A fighter of a previous war against cats, Werner Werman is a vetran when it comes to fighting. And he has a pretty cool machine disguised as a cat. It was surprising when the end of the hard mode knock out revealed that. I, for one, think Werner probably deserves a medal for "Best and Fun Boss Fight".

9. Templeton (Charlotte's Web): Yes, this guy's on the list too. I don't know why, but either it's by his deadpan snarker, his design, his voice, or his "keeping his head cool" attitude, but Templeton truly was one of Wilbur's friends (despite the attitude he gave near the end to Wilbur) and secretly cared for both Wilbur and Charlotte. He even started a family at the end of the Hanna-Barbera film.

8. Ratarang (Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart): My original number 8 was going to be the Water Rat (in different incarnations) here, but Ratarang has grown on me since the series commenced. He's one of the pirates of Orangusnake who would stick by his comrades to the end and, like the other pirates in there, would fight Mao Mao in any way possible.

7. Nicodemus (Secret of NIMH): He is a wise sage who helps Mrs. Brisby in any way possible. Even in spirit, Nicodemus proved his usefulness as he, in the stone, helped Mrs. Brisby power up and save her children when moving their home with the sick Timothy inside. And honestly, I think I like his wizard look rather than the book form he was seen in the Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh book, honestly.

6. Rizzo (Muppets): He was one of the most hilarious Muppets growing up. Though spunky, he was still a good friend to Gonzo during the years the two hung out together. It was ashame the two movies demoted him a bit, though.

5. Justin (Secret of NIMH): Captain of the guards, Justin fights to protect his people and against those that oppose his comrades like Jenner. Strong, brave, and very cool, Justin has great qualities to be Nicodemus' successor.

4. Master Splinter (TMNT): A master to his turtle students, Splinter is a very wise teacher and, depending on the origin of his mutation, is an amazing dad to Leo, Raph, Mike, and Don. Splinter is stern, but he does have a heart and cares for the people around him. His adopted sons especially. He can fight pretty well and has fought Shredder and his clan head on. What makes him very cool is that he knows his attack moves and can get out of some situations when it calls for it.

3. Remy (Ratatouille): Remy may be small, but he's got a big heart when it comes to cooking. Though he's somewhat a "picky eater" as his dad call him, his love for food helps Linguini and the restaurant of his favorite deceased chef (who's voiced by 2 Stupid Dogs actor Brad Garrett) into becoming a success. However, while he can be selfish at times, Remy does have a heart and he does care for Linguini and his rat colony family.

2. Professor Ratigan (Great Mouse Detective): Criminal mastermind and rival to Basil of Baker Street, Professor Ratigan is the Moriarty of Basil's Sherlock Holmes, a great nemesis who would do anything to get what he wants. Though he dislikes being called a rat, he can be a very intimidating foe when the right circumstances call for it. You're also wondering why he isn't number 1 in my list. Well...Ratigan use to be number 1 on this list back then, but that was before in 2016. Speaking of which...

and lastly number 1. Pew the Rat (Legends of Treasure Island): Yes, Pew has slowly grew on me for the past few years. I was surprised this version of Blind Pew had gotten a somewhat bigger role within the all animal adaptation of Treasure Island (to me, it felt like a very good spiritual prequel to Sonic SatAM in a way). Despite blind, Pew can create vultures and a dragon while going after what he sought for, even by killing one of the main cast at the end: A strange artifact that gives him a glowing barrier aura, strange upgrade that makes him run faster (and possibly help regain his sight in my opinion) and whatever else he could have had had Jane not killed him. Despite him being a dark, cruel sorcerer and pirate, reluctantly working with Long John Silver the Fox at times, there is something about Pew that makes me think that there was some hidden emotions on him.
