Description I am not sure if I like this drawing. I drew this as a challange to some friends because they were wondering why I don't draw men or male figures.

It is quite simple. It is hard for me to draw men. I don't know why. It just is. But I guess with practice, I would be able to overcome this difficulty.

Anyways, this is Legolas of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy as portrayed by Orlando Bloom. I am not even sure if there is a resemblance in this pic.

Pic was done on gray artagain paper and colored with prismacolor pencils. Lineart was done by my sis

I won't go into any specifics of likeness to Bloom, as that's been covered very well by the other comments; one thing I DO want to say is that you've done a fabulous job of capturing the CHARACTER of Legolas, rather than specifically the actor who portrayed him: this piece carries all the personality and aura of the elfin hero, with his softspoken courage and tremendous heart. I love the light--so soft and magical--and the eyes are superbly done!

First of all, let me say that I was quite blown away by this picture. It is an excellent portrayal of Legolas, and you've done a wonderful job capturing that slightly wistful quality of the elves.

I think the reason that he doesn't look quite like Orlando Bloom's portrayal of Legolas is because, as ~dolphingirl0113 has mentioned, the jaw is rather prominent. This is partially the result of the fact that we should, technically, see more of the chin than we are seeing right now, given the angle of the rest of his face. If you were to round the chin and remove some of the shadow from it, I think you'd find the portrait looked more comfortable. The other cause is that the jaw is a bit long. Try using a paint program to pull the entire front of the face back about 4 mm; make sure the jawline remained relatively smooth, and I think you'll see some positive results.

I hope this helps!

It does, unfortunately, I don't have a suitable paint program to fix the chin problem. But your advice does help nonetheless.

I think it looks really good, actually! I think part of the problem is that deciding to draw Legolas is hard, because he was kind of feminine anyway in his features. This drawing is very masculine. So that might be the main problem in this case.

But the coloring is great. And as always, I love how you did his hair.

Thank you for your comments. I did notice that he had some feminine features...I just couldn't get past that. Not to mention that I didn't have the best reference pic either. It was somewhat blurry and I had to make do with my memory of how Legolas looked like. I got to tell you that I do NOT have the best memory.

The hair is one of the things I disliked the most, blond hair is so hard to capture sometimes. But thank you for the comments anyway.
