Description
A pen & ink commission sketch of Zatanna. Threw it into Photoshop when I was done and did some simple speed coloring. I'm happy with the loose, yet finished feel to it.Related content

As for your work, my advice to you is work on laying out your understructure before diving into your art. Shape out your figures and find your placement/alignment of details (eyes, ears, etc) before diving into the details. Also, I know the figure is the most exciting part to draw (I know it is for me), but start thinking about environment/settings/background. It really helps add more excitement to your drawings to not just see WHO you're drawing, but WHAT they are doing, WHERE they are, and even WHY they are acting/posing/dressed the way they are.

Thank you so much. Yes, I have a lot of trouble with backgrounds and prefer not to bother with them, and also am pretty lazy with understructure so those are areas I should be working on.

Very nice. The one thing I notice right off is the bend in her top hat. I'm not sure a top hat bends like that. If it came down and went straight across, I could see you having trouble showing her eyes. Otherwise, I like it a lot. It's Zatanna so who wouldn't?

No, you are right. Shhhh... :-P I misinterpreted my source material, then just went with it. I think I kinda saved it and it coulda been worse. It was kinda fun to have a "problem" and figure out how I could "solve" it.
