On the night of Saint Anthony, pray a tradition that we should burn the flower of a wild artichoke, replant it in a pot or flowerbed, watering the earth and waiting for it to bloom if that happens, it was a sign that the love / a young was matched, if not ... not really!

Some reported that it should be burned at the stake itself street that night, others were not so specific about where it burned.
Sure it had to be that night for the "omen" be reliable!

Always liked these popular traditions when I was a kid, one poor artichoke, was the victim of my desire to know what fate had reserved for me. Bloomed! I never understood why some re-bloom and others don't.. Mysteries ...

Now ... some people eat them! Never tasted, nor will it much . Also not burned any more.

I'd rather see the fields dotted by lilac tone of its flowers and this was toasted by landing a beautiful butterfly.

Certain is that the artichokes are no longer just sought in Saint Anthony: the "pursuit" is now orchestrated by the great masters of cuisine and gourmets of exquisite taste.
