Description You alone are what my soul needs
You know the thirst is taking over
Hardly breathe, I'm in urgent need
You know the thirst is taking over

The thirst is taking over

Hold me down, hold me down
Drip it on my tongue
And my convulsions stop
Thirst for love, thirst for your love
I could swallow your beauty whole

You alone are what my soul needs
You know the thirst is taking over
Hardly breathe, I'm in urgent need
You know the thirst is taking over

Running out, times running out
Searching for the one who can conquer me
I'm going to scream aloud, throw it down
Crash in the sweet obsession of you
I'm going to swim and drown in the wake of you

You alone are what my soul needs
You know the thirst is taking over
Hardly breathe, I'm in urgent need
You know the thirst is taking over

The thirst is taking over
I wanna taste it
I need to taste it
Deep in the Saviors arms

You alone are what my soul needs
You know the thirst is taking over
Hardly breathe, I'm in urgent need
You know the thirst is taking over

I wanna drink you in
I am drinking you in
I wanna drink you in

Hardly breathe, I'm in urgent need
You know the thirst is taking over
The thirst is taking over

I wanna taste it
I need to taste it
Deep in the Saviors arms

"The Thirst is Taking Over" by Skillet

Trying a different technique: rustic. I think it turned out rather well... for a first attempt. Anyway, this is the scene from my first series where Xyston (Pre-BW Rampage) rises after the completion of the Protoform X experiments. The Immortal doesn't look happy....

Pretty cool design!

One thing though: Why did you give him a different mouth? His normal mouth (in my opinion) makes him look way more meancing and scary!

Still good work nonetheless!

I treat his and Depth Charge's as battlemasks that they can retract. I picture it as half their faces actually transforming into the mask while extra bits of metal fold out for additional shielding. The whole thing looks so weird, yet so freaky when I imagine it

I used the reference of Shokaract from the BW comics, since his character model was based on Rampage anyway

That's awesome.

Personally, I think Beast Wars really showed what kinda series it was with this character. What other American cartoon series (for kids) brings you a character so twisted and dark.

I think it coincided with the big slide of anime into the US, along with people realizing that sociopathic characters are unmistakably fun to write

True... Very true (on both accounts)

I think it was also a love of Mainframes to push the envelope- both in characters and subject matter. It's one of the few series in that time (90's) that not only made computer animated series- but who also would kill popular characters off, gave bad guys real motivations that helped explain there position, and even took on a few ideas that was taboo for a "kids" show.

(Think of Reboot, Beast wars, Beast Machines, and Starship Troopers here)

I totally agree. It's the same reason why Dinobot's death was so memorable, Tigertron and Airazor's departure so mourned, and Depth Charge's character (for as brief appearance that he had) so well-developed. As for Reboot, Megabyte and Hexadecimal were by far the most driven villains of any television show for children that I've ever seen, and that was even with Hex's brief... erm.... momentary lapse of judgment, shall we say?

CYBERBUTTERFLY In reply to joshin-yasha [2010-09-01 05:06:06 +0000 UTC]

"Lapse of Judgment".... that putting it gently.

And, yes. I was painful to watch characters die- but it also gave there shows a brevity lacking in most North American Sat. morning serials.
These characters were cared for BECAUSE you weren't assured they'd live to fight another day.

And Reboot- for all it's goofy humor- created villains that you could have fun with, and sometimes even agree with.

And did you ever watch Starship Troopers: Roughneck Chronicles? It was done by Mainframe as well, and even my DAD loved to watch that one.

It starts with characters you'd know from the book (awesome), or from the movie (gag me). It follows the rookies from getting out of basic, to them growing into smart, driven fighters. Once again, Mainframe pushed the boundries.

It was hard look at war, and the consequences of choices made during wartime (considering it's a cartoon for kids) Just happens that instead of fighting people, they were taking on giant insects.

People died, people got maimed, people had nervous breakdowns because of the strain of war. Characters you wanted to hate, they made sympathetic. Characters you wanted to love, they gave flaws. EVERYONE had a backstory, and everyone had a reason for what they were doing, and why they were doing it.

If your a fan of Mainframes work, and haven't watched it- check it out. It's available on DVD (own it), so you shouldn't have any problem finding it. (or just check on line, and download it that way)

His arms look like they're made out of cheery tootsie pops!

"Mr. Owl, how many licks does it take to get to the horrible, twisted mutant center?"

Seriously though, it's really awesome!
