I just got a very sad news that one of the most well known and well loved comic book artist - Michael Turner had passed away last night, June 27th at approximately 10:42 pm in Santa Monica, Ca., from cancer.I was fortunate enough to get to work with Michael. We worked on Fathom from issue #10 on up until he parted ways with Top Cow. I remember him getting an operation to remove a part of his pelvic bone. Mike struggled but never gave up. He continued to draw and had great spirit. He also gave me a lot of affirmation and encouragements. Aside from walking with a cane, you couldn’t really tell that there was anything wrong because he had this great personality that makes you feel very comfortable.
Mike is a great guy, a talented artist and a dear friend. He will surely be missed. My condolences go out to his family.

although it's being a while since he died and even though i never knew him or got the opportunity to see him in person while going to comic book convention the news hit me hard and still to this date. one because i was am and avid comic book collector and the other because he was so young and had so much to offer to the world not only with his comics but also to his family and friends that his chances were cut short. Sad to see such an influential figure go. but am sure in heaven they enjoying his comics. specially the women he use to draw..

I had this poster on the side of my pillow on the wall for years ! I would wake up to this and fell asleep on this -

This is horrible news to hear. He will surely be missed. I will say that I have this poster on my wall facing right across my bed. I still love waking up and looking at this. The pencils, "The Inks", and the colors its soo perfect.

Oh fuck no... I just saw the lineart and thought about how much I still love Mike Turner, even though I have sort of grown out of comics. I have all the Turner Witchblade comics and the first Fathom issues and lots of other stuff... I can't believe this. It has seriously shocked me. Along with Joe Mad, Mike Turner got me into drawing, and I will always be grateful for that, even though I will never reach his level.
My condolences go out to the family and friends of one of the greatest comic book artists ever in my book.
