Inspiration
The wind raises goosebumps along his bare skin. It dances between his fingers, tugs at his hair, pushes him forward. It's too cold to be doing this, he knows. But he can't see the snow and not think of her. He clutches numbly to the guitar with one hand, stretching his other arm out into the wind. The magic's still out there somewhere, it's just a matter of finding it.

This piece of work was inspired by #Digiversity 's contest . It's a really great project they're doing, trying to encourage unity between the literature and digital art communities through collaboration.

Speaking of collaboration, I finally did a collaboration with ~cherrichan13 ! We've been planning to have a collaboration since February, I believe. Yes, it finally happened. I showed her this picture way back then. And we were really excited about putting something together. Lo and behold, eight months later, it happened.
(And really I have #Digiversity to thank for it. )

Technique
This was taken last winter, and yes, that is me. It was pretty cold, but one of the best photoshoots that I've done (well I've only done, like, three). Believe it or not, the guitar was a last-minute addition. I brought it out with me, thinking I might want it, but not really intending on using it. For the last shot, I decided to hold it, because I'd carried it all the way, I might as well use it, no? So there was only one picture of me and the guitar. But I love it.

I used a grunge stock and manipulated the photo, aiming to match the 'magic' theme and ~cherrichan13 's story.

When he was seven, still learning his notes, he would sit by the fire and clumsily pluck at the strings of the guitar. He'd stare into the flickering light until he heard her whisper behind him, "It's like magic." Then he'd feel her warm breath on his ear and hear the words, "
