It's been almost a year since my first try at 3D modelling, but I decided to give low poly another shot, so here we are!You can spin her model around here: skfb.ly/TvAt
Polly's Bio:
Polly is a Macaw harpy turned pirate, sailing the seas in search of the fabled "oyster crackers." Her journey will come to end after years of fruitless searching when she finally succumbs to despair in a New England bar and orders a bowl of clam chowder. She then discovers that the accompanying crackers were served on land, not sea, all this time, and that the true form of One Piece is actually a long running manga masterpiece.
I'm enjoying 3D! Next I want to try making a high-poly model.

Darn... that's the kind of stuff I've been wanting to do in 3D for a long time. Is it actually easier to do something low poly first rather than high poly then simplify?
Also, did you use Blender's tools to paint on the model directly or did you unwrap everything first?
You managed to retain a pixelly/oekaki look to the textures, too. Did you just remove the usual blurring effect? What about lighting? This seems to be uniformly lit somehow.
I guess the overall question might be: are there tutorials to learn how to do this look specifically or did you get there through trial and error?

Here are some tips.
Alright, for your textures: You need to unwrap the UVs. Then open it up in some kind of art software. Then, you need to scale it down to any power of 2,Β (the most common sizes being 128x128, 256x256, 64x64, 32x32). Now use a pixel brush (ex. Photoshop's pencil tool, CSP's basic G-pen but no anti-aliasing) to trace over it and add textures.
To remove the blurring (IN VIEWPORT):Β File -> User Perferences -> System -> Uncheck the box next to "MipMaps"
To remove blurring in rendering: Render -> OpenGl Render Options -> Uncheck the box next to Β Anti-Aliasing (that's what the blurring is called, BTW) -> Then click "OpenGL Render Image"
For the lighting: On every one of your textures: Material ->Shading -> Check the box next to "Shadeless"

I guess her sister Hi! Polly found found fame in Hollywood working for Disney/Pixar and Dreamworks and is sure to appear in the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

I know I haven't been making anything since April this year and I am almost exhausted from what I'm doing. I also have been catching some sympthoms of casual sicknesses and I've been doing nothing but studying and I am watching what I've been watching since 2013 and 2014 on YouTube. I do nothing but play Minecraft, Happy Wheels and Flash games and I eat nothing but Sweet Chilli Heat and Ketchup. And here are things that I've been playing through this year:Β
I am in crisis. I haven't got anything to do since April or March of this year. And I want suggestions now, like I always thought It'd be safe to live on an island incase of a WMD attack or somethin' BUT I want anything. I want to see how many art categories, challenges and types I can doodle! I kinda like anime if that'd do, but cartoons and real life kinda struggles with me.
Yes. I'm doing nothing playing flash games like I do since April. But, enough is enough! Like Trump or Hillary, nasty candidates and nobody wants to vote for them.
