Description
Oil on board 36”x 24”Medusa was once a virgin priestess of Athena who fled to her temple hoping to be rescued from the rape of Poseidon. Athena couldn’t stop her uncle and so punished Medusa for defiling her temple by turning her into the gorgon. I imagined Perseus added the bit and bridle to further dehumanize her as he weaponized her remains to avenge and conquer.
