Description This artwork is my submission for the fourth artpack by *exceeds The theme for this artpack was to create an square shaped artwork. With other words; all sides had to be equal. I chose to create an artwork that measures 1000 pixels x 1000 pixels.

'The days of her kingdom' tells the story from a girl who once was a princes in a far and peacefull land. The face in the clouds is one of her 'guardians'. Someone who always will be there to protect her and to give her comfort and joy.

About the leafs ..... are they falling down or are they just going above. Anyway, they 'connect' the two figures to eachother.

I'm still not using any stock Except for the picture of the girl ofcourse. So the entire artwork is created with only brushes and a texture to give it some extra warmth and depth.

The sky is created with help from some horizontal placed gradients. I 'folded' them to mix the bluetones with eachother. The clouds are brushed in white, and two differents grey tones. For the people who are interested; I create depth by working first with the darker tones/colours to end with the lighter ones.

I'm happy with the field. I tried to create a look that would suggest some thick grass and I think that I succeeded

Thanks for viewing. And I'm thanking you on forehand for the comments.

Please step in my world and be inspired .....

How do you do your backgrounds?

They are indeed inspiring...

JohndeLano In reply to Kechake [2008-10-11 18:23:19 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. The backgrounds are totaly created with brushwork only. I always create my own brushes. By doing that I'm able to maintain this specific style. I always work on a solid black backgrounds and start brushing in slightly dark colors. The top layers are the ones with the more lighter colors. Thank you for stopping by, I appreciate it

Very beautiful piece, with it's surreal feel
The clouds look very realistic, I'm impressed you chose to paint them instead of using a photograph!
You are very good at creating your own backgrounds for your artwork, without being dependant on stock. I used to do the other way round, using my own models and some stock for backgrounds and props... Now, my goal is to do everything myself, I hope I can stick to it

Anyway, congrats for another wonderful piece of art!
