what version of photoshop did you use for this? cause im trying to learn vector art too and i didnt know that you could do vector art with photoshop.

The actual vector part of the piece was done in Adobe Illustrator CS. The background was some standard photoshop texturing. But if you have PS 7 or above, you can set the pen tool to shapes and it's kinda like vector. I'm not too familiar with it, but if you check this out.... [link] this should be a real good place to start for getting set up in PS to vector.

Yo, I love the way you flip hair. Any pointers? Oh, and that piece on the bottom, is that something you did, or did you pick it up from somewhere? Either way, hot as hell.

With the hair, I try to keep it as fluid looking as possible, so when I use the pen tool in Illustrator, I try to use the least amount of anchor points as possible.
And that ornamental piece at the bottom was part of a brush set in Photoshop. I took it, converted it to paths, and brought it into illustrator.

Thanks for the tutorial. It's the simple things that you don't even think of that blow your mind. I am always looking for something intricate like ornament, and wouldn't even have thought to look through the PS brushes. Would you know of a link that shows a quick way to convert brushes like those to paths? If not that's cool, just keep your work comin.

i know this is totally of the topic, but here where I live, we used to believe/hear in such weird superstition-ish stories. i was once told by a friend of a bodyless head rising from their graves (theyre already dead) & floating around at night to search and eat newborn babies. or something like that. but the bodyless heads had a neck and somehow some inner organs were attached to it. or something like that..

Hey yo, this digi portrait vecTAH is very well done. I like what you did with the flesh tones to create smooth surfaces. I mean Overall I'm trippin over all this dimension you've acheived. Wish I could make thigns like that (Tryin but havigng little succes on my own) ANYWAY I'm glad you got the Dailty Deviation because this totally stopped me in my tracks last night while I was on the PHONE!!!!!!!!! and so yeah uch love manG

awsome ruggady style i liek the way you used the hair to complete the piece.. wuthout hte need for a body, so her head isnt just cut off anf floating. and nice detail down the bottom!
