Description I almost never paint landscapes (or at least not landscapes without giant mushrooms or weird ruins in them...). But I wanted to let go a bit more when I paint and just let the colors flow as they please. And so this happened.

Oh wow, this is gorgeous! What kind of paint you used?

Thanks a lot! I did this with Derwent's Inktense pencils. They are water-soluble and are basically like inksticks in the shape of pencils. As the name suggests, you can get some really intense colors out of them.

Yeah. The colors look like paint drenched in water. It looks really nice. I wonder if I can get them where I live. I'm still new to this site and I want to try as many styles as I can

Yeah, I used more water than usual this time. I wanted to see how these colors would behave with more classical techniques like wet-on-wet. It's easy to forget that this is in fact ink and not watercolors, so it behaves a bit differently.

Hope you can find them! They're great fun to experiment with. And if you do find them and need any help you can always ask.

Don't worry, I can simply improvise with what I have. I usually take time between drawings because I want them to be good so I take breaks. Great technique there. One would easily confuse them with watercolors

Yeah, the big difference from watercolors is that these dry within seconds and then are permanent.

So you can't afford any mistakes. That makes it complicated

Well it's still a pretty transparent ink, so you can still work around any mistake in different ways. Like here where I used other colored pencils to add highlights after the paint was all dry.

The transparency might be of help. I should have to use a thick paper though. I'm sometimes not convinced with my own work so I make a lot of correction, and one time, I was really close on damaging the paper and ruining everything

Yeah I use watercolor paper mostly. I'm always unsure of my own work too. That's kind of what I like with these, because they sometimes force you to work around your own mistakes and just accept them. Like in this painting I did where I messed up quite a bit but was able to turn my mistakes into a part of the background, ultimately making the painting better than it had been if I hadn't messed up in the first place.

That's really nice. You can barely see the mistakes at all. You're right, they do inspire you to make something even better than you originally planned

Being forced to work fast and just work around your own mistakes - these pencils are a great exercise for your artistic confidence!

I suppose. There's still a lot of terrain I have to explore.
