Commissioned piece. I was contacted be a "Hobbit" collector for this one. He has over 400 copies of "The Hobbit". Now, my house is overflowing with books. Some sculpted, some waiting, some that I will never, ever sculpt because they mean too much to me. I really don't think I have 400 though. That's just amazing.

Anyway, the copy of the book that I used had beautiful green flyleaves. Because Hobbit's are so close to nature, I decided to incorporate the green into the sculpture. The grass covering the home, tree leaves, and garden are all made from the flyleaves. The house has a brick face. There's over 160 individual bricks. I'm not sure how well it shows in the picture, but the interior of the house is lit. There's an LED that will shine through the window and door. The battery pack is hidden under the book and the on/off switch is hidden in the grass behind the tree. Bilbo's garden is right under his window and his rake propped next to the door.
