I've been in a strange emotional state these past few weeks. Hopeless and excited all at once, filled with anticipation at every turn and disappointment at whatever comes beyond. Joy is fleeting and detached and pain is vice-like, keeping me held in the conscious world when I feel like I'm beginning to drift away. I'm almost beginning to revel in my own discomfort and feelings of disconnect.

What I expect to enjoy is nightmarish; what I expect to view as leisure is solace.

I hate it here, and I definitely don't want to be here, but I don't want to go home, because there's nothing worthwhile waiting for me.

Sigh. I want to go back to our apartment in Paris.
