I love the design, adorable and mystical. But I wonder can they shape shift? If it's looking for someone pure of heart it would probably be easier as a cat instead this, until it's read your intentions at least.

Why would you say a feline body would be better suited for looking for someone for a pure heart than a canine one?

I would say the body of a normal animal would be better to find someone pure of heart than a mystical one, simply because it would be easier to blend in and everyone wouldn't immediately snap to there best behavior upon seeing something mystical. I said a cat specifically for this one because it looks feline to me. I have both, but I'm more of a dog person myself

Hmm, I see what you mean, but wouldn't seeing who puts on a mask of goodness versus who is just "naturally good" a perfect way to see that?Β Although, yeah, I guess I'm assuming that they have some sort of magical ability to "read" people :b

Both are fair points, i just think logistically it would probably be easier to find someone of pure heart if you didn't also have to worry about the people who would try to steal the gem.

Interesting. Is there a mythical creature called a carbuncle? I found a feline-like creature in another game with the same name, but when I looked it up, only got some medical explanation, which wasn't very helpful.

Yes, there is a mythological creature called a carbuncle - aside from finding it in various Final Fantasy games, it's a creature with a crystal in its head, and I can't quite recall offhand, but something like it's able to read a person's character, and if they are the right kind of person (pure of heart, selfless, that sort of thing I'm guessing), the carbuncle will give its jewel to the person.Β However, those who actively try to hunt the carbuncle will always fail to catch it.
