Excellent remake poster basing it on the original Star Wars movie poster. I even get a few of the references from their games, a few I'm not familiar with.

This raises so many questions on my part, like: Who are the people standing next to Samus? What role does Ulala serve? What is with the Easter Island Heads in the background? Who is that lion-faced thing that is standing behind Ulala?

I can answer at least two of your questions:
The person standing to Samus' left is none other than Roger Wilco, lengendary space janitor and protagonist of the Space Quest games (only for the PC)
The lion-faced "thing" standing behind Ulala is Prince Thrakath of the deadly Kilrtahi, main antagonist from the Wing Commander series of fighter simulators (and he'd probably tear your face off for calling him a "lion-faced thing", the Kilrathi are very violent).

I'm surprised at how many people misunderstand this piece. Β There are inconsistencies in the characters because it is a mix between the original star wars poster and the original characters. The inconsistencies help draw it closer to the original art piece it is parodying. jnkboy is drawing from two sources for inspiration and making design decisions that will help maintain both character and the original structure. Β A very well thought out piece and extremely well done. Bravo.
