I just happened to stumble upon this and your illustration of Hayao Miyazaki; two of my all-time favorite directors! 2001: A Space Odyssey is the most influential film that I have ever seen (the novel, in turn, is one of my largest literary inspirations), and Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away are two more of my favorite movies. Anyways, very nice job with both pieces; I love the attention to detail on the faces, and then the abstract segue into solid colors - it sort of reflects the ambiguity of 2001. Awesome work!
