I know I constantly claim I am working on various game related projects, but this time I actually am making for real progress. Current screenshots don't look great, since I'm working to make sure the physics and controls work well before gussying up the backgrounds and HUD, but most of the player's animations are more or less done.

To start, I'm attempting to make a close approximation of Castlevania style action platforming, mixing the feel of both classic NES style and later "Metroidvania" style, keeping the pace of the oldschool with the increased mobility of the newer games.

Once I get that working, I'd like to build the game to play like an enhanced or expanded approach to the open world gameplay of Castlevania 2. That is to say, a single, expansive "hub" type overworld consisting of the castle's main grounds, with distinct "dungeon" style action stages.

For now, though, a simple, level 1 whip attack.
