Description Trying to do more digital inking... lines are still turning out all wobbly, though, particularly on Jake. I'm pretty pleased with the composition of this scene, and of the body language of t Finn and Ice King.

That's why he's the best worst best friend a boy could have!

Drawing on a tablet does take a lot of getting used to. The difference in friction is a big hurdle, for one thing. One trick you can use is to tape a thin piece of paper to the drawing field- the pen will still draw through it.

I think a big issue I'm having is that when I ink by hand, I tend to turn the page frequently, as there are certain angles I'm not comfortable getting a clean line at. It's way too much work to do that digitally though, as I'd have to turn the tablet and the image every time, and am just too damn lazy to do so.

I think I'm going to just leave coloring and such for the digital world, and continue to ink by hand, though.

I've been digitally inking for years now, and I've gotta be honest. It's not worth it from a practical standpoint. It takes ten times longer, and if you want to be comfortable doing it, you need a Cintiq. I just do it because I really like the way it looks when it's all smooth and clean, and because I can't really ink by hand. If you'd rather use pen and paper, more power to you.

Do you ink with a vector tool?

Nah, I just use the paintbrush. The furthest I ever go with the fancy tools is using the pen tool to stroke a path. I don't like not being able to control the line weight.

I like Jake's wobbly lines. He's all stretchy and all, gives it a nice character to it. C:
Finn and Ice King look so awesome and so does the lighting.
