I wonder if we're looking at the last moments of this world, a last, beautiful instant before it gets swallowed up by the singularity. Singularities do that kind of thing. Supernovae blast solar systems apart. Volcanos burn large stretches of ground under their lava streams. And yet, for a moment, they're outstandingly beautiful. Here, it looks like the atmosphere is pulled up, spiralling out into space, and something about the bright streak in the left upper corner of the picture looks like lightening. The colours and composition of this painting are calming and harmonic, but once you think about it, it seems you might be looking at a glorified end of the world. Great art. Why does this not have more comments?
