Another one for the uni mag.. this time the article was about trying not get stressed out because of the summer coming.My aim was to create a pic with a maximum amount of summery feeling... so this is what I came up with. The twisted horizon thing has already been attempted at least by this artist:

I used to lay on the grass and play with my cat (a charcoal tabby not unlike the one in the picture) every summer. Makes me yearn for childhood again...such a cute, innocent picture.

My new kitten doesn't wake me up (he sleeps later than me), but he puts me to sleep by giving my chin love bites. He's so adorable.

Good feelings in this one. I think that I have seen that "wide angle object" style used somewhere else but seriously, this looks just like summer. That cat reminds me also of some movie poster (that didn't look like this but anyway). Interesting artwork.

Perfect, that is all I can say. The colors, the perspecitve and the summery feel are just top notch in this one. And there is a cat! Definitely a favourite.

An exellenbt attempt at the fisheye lens look. The colors are nice & vibrant, and the main subject is perfectly placed. I wouldn't mind seeing more art done by you with this effect.

heh. When I saw this I imediately thought of 's drawing Wicked Blue ( [link] ), a piece that inspired a drawing of my own, almost two years ago.... ([link] )
Of course, other than the distorted rising perspective, the three drawings have nothing else in common...
I especially enjoy the way you drew the clouds, in a far less realistic than ~retrolex's, yet as effective, in your own style.... The hard light and saturated clours also work to their full effect... The setting is very well chosen, giving the viewer a discrete "back to nature feeling", that we, as mostly city dwellers, came to associate with the season.... All in all, this is a true hommage to summer, and a very beautiful drawing in itself, very deserving of a

heh. thanks. Indeed, since that was my first ever cg using Painter, the drawing is pretty crappy, although I realy liked the idea, and will probably re-do it someday.
For me it was quite the contrary. I ran into 's work quite by accident in my first two days of DA (I saw some of her air-themed drawings, and sine I'm an aviation nut myself...) and I never even knew she had a website of her own. In hindsight, and since the link has been staring me in the face on her DA page, it seems rather stupid...

The warped angle had me thinking 'lex' the moment I saw this; she has a devart account too, btw - [link] I've tried to do crazy angled stuff like this too but it's never worked out.
You captured the summery feeling perfectly. I like the taller plants especially. I wish I could go lie in the grass already.. sigh. I think it's ridiculous that we're getting snow in late April! - I mean it's SOUTH Finland, that has to amount for something

awesome job. I guess summer means different things to us all because of our seperate experiances, so it's great that you didn't put too many material things in there. I love just laying in the grass.. I need to go do that sometime soon (once it warms up a bit).
