psamtik [2003-08-29 04:24:21 +0000 UTC]

nice render, very full and the colors suit it well. But its a shame the image has not been thoroughly antialised to remove the bad edges. Other than that keep up the good work

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jim373 In reply to psamtik [2003-08-29 04:35:24 +0000 UTC]

The loss of antialiasing is more a result of reducing the original bitmap into a more manageable jpeg file size...
If I uploaded the full bitmaps with all of the original picture quality intact, noone with dial-up connections
would even bother to try and download it... it would take forever....
but thanks for the comments..

jim373 In reply to jim373 [2003-08-29 04:45:46 +0000 UTC]

And as a side note to this comment, anyone who would like to have the original bitmap instead of
a (very slightly) degraded jpeg... just send me a note with your email addy and I'll be happy to
send you the original version with all picture quality and antialiasing intact....
(be sure to specify the file size you desire though)

How do you do these ??
It would be more intresting if you add some poser models and things in as a foreground ... but they are good, how long does it take to make these and what software do you use to make these ?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jim373 In reply to zananeichan [2003-08-29 00:56:43 +0000 UTC]

I make these in Bryce 5... I don't use Poser because I don't like people in my pictures... just a personal choice
you understand.. I also use Painter and Photoshop for various touch ups...
The landscapes (as you know already) are done mostly in Terragen with some touch up work in Photoshop.
I love the figures you do but for my own work I don't like to do that....
I'm trying to learn Ultra Fractal but at this point with very limited success.. hehe..

👍: 0 ⏩: 3

jim373 In reply to jim373 [2003-08-29 22:56:55 +0000 UTC]

I'm not surprised, terragen is ungodly slow to render...
The bryce pictures that take the longest to render involve using glass textures...
glass always takes forever to render but looks so awesome.
Don't get me wrong about Poser, I love what you do with it and I like several other peoples
work with it, but I just don't use it myself.
Thanks about the Ultra Fractal, I am making some slow headway with it....

zananeichan In reply to jim373 [2003-08-29 17:30:20 +0000 UTC]

O.K I understand , everyone has different choices .. , well keep at it then you will get your ultra fractal !
, gosh
Thats slow rendering, my latest elfy background i did with terragen took 24 hours and a few minutes to complete..

Love
Danielle

A good example of raw experimentation with little eperience compared to one with every trick I've learned so far.... hehe
Got to admit, sometimes the most primal, raw ones are the best...
there is such a thing as overcooking the stew (as it were)

Thanks my friend, I was very pleased at how this turned out, I worked on this one on and off for a couple
of weeks or more... sometimes they just happen and other times you have to work at them...
btw: this was originally silver and then I applied a jpeg image as a light gel and voila!!

Yeah, I'm messing about with gels at the moment. I took a look at a tut that I think ~skargrim mentioned - they can make a hell of a difference.
