Not it's completely CG - I used Apophysis 2.05([link] ) to create the fractal flame and used photoshop for some final touches.

I can see something that resembles an animal, fairly cartoony and with what I see as devil horns up top.

yeah they're a bit like horns - i see them as ears - and the face does remind me a little of Kimba (Jungulu Taitei) the white lion (very, very old Japanese anime which I watched reruns of as a kid).

I was going for a face - I always seem to see faces in most of my fractals (usually in one of the mutations, after I pick that I start moving triangles around, adding/removing, resizing to get the features a little clearer) - this one seemed friendlier than most tho and reminded me of a cat

The software used for this one is free - The software is called apophisys (if you weren't already aware of it). There are a few tutorials and resources available as well - but the best thing is just use it, see what comes up

It does look like a smiling lion's face... This is really cool, I love original looking fractals and this is definitely one of them. Looks kind of like ink floating around in water.
