Description
Okay there's a sad, sad story behind this drawingSo this was supposed to be just a sketch that i would later color so I didn't really bother with shading or anything
But then when I got to coloring I freaking ruined it *RIP*
Like I color my drawings so bad that a five year old would do a better job
However I still had hopes so I asked a friend which one is better (the sketch or the colored one) and she too thought I suck at coloring so yeah
I'm just sad I didn't finish the drawing with more shading because I actually liked it *cries*

They put so much effort into it. So many characters with their unique art, voice actors, etc. I started this week so I am level 11 but I already love the game. Was thinking about drawing few characters myself

The sketch is awesome. Have you ever tried out different materials for colouring. I mean, there are pencils, watercolour/aquarelle(for this you have to let it be though, the beauty lies partially in the spontanious a bit, a challenge for controll freaks like me
you know, two years ago I absolutely hated coloured pencils... and then my dad gifted me with a whole set of coloured pencils I didn't know what to do with.... so that's how I got started and I've grown used to it and I absolutely love doing it now. Otherwise, have you ever tried those brown shades that usually are in a charcoal pencil set? That could be fun too, for your charcoal works...
I absolutely sucked in colouring too. pencils shading always worked, but colours..... I'm still working in improving, but I am sure you can get quite far too. Believe in yourself, you are very talented

Hmm, which drawing tools are you referring to. oh, and I missed that detail that you said aquarelle pencils. I didn't mean those. I meant those with a brush and water.
Anyway for pencil colouring... Generally, start with the lighter colour first, then go over it with the darker one. For a good "professional" looking picture you need to use multiple colours for one plane and form. Also, usually one needs to take more extreme colours than expected. For skin tones it can include green, blue, purple, yellow and such. next to the pencil considered of skin-colour. I usually take that as a reference middle. and I don't always use it everywhere. in some places I mix the colours, in others I don't. For shadowed parts I sometimes use graphite pencils as a supplement, I generally use them for the black-ish parts, instead of a black coloured pencil.
What helps me a lot is to look at other peoples art and try to analyze what they did with the colour pencils. where they used which colour and what effect it has. And to go for a bit more extreme and expressive than it looks on the original... that helps too. since in the end, pencils still are rather light except you press like crazy(i don't like doing that myself) also, sometimes you can go over a dark part with a light colour to get some effects.
yeah. sometimes if the colours seem too strong, like red too red, I go in and shade it a bit with it's opposite colour, therefore green. that dulls it considerably. i the end it's all about trying out. I usually have some paper ready to the side where I can try out different colour combinations.
