This is such an amazing and interesting photo even though I'm getting such a creepy-crawly feeling looking at it (They look a lot like the tent caterpillars we get up here, which are very destructive, but I think they are just something closely related.)

I hope I'm wrong about the tent caterpillars - they can kill a lot of trees.

Let's hope they're not the tent caterpillars - if they are, your town will probably spray to get rid of them. Many, many years ago when I lived on Long Island we had a frightening amount of them and they had to spray. It got to the point where they were covering the outside of windows and you couldn't drive without hearing them pop under the wheels...I never want to see anything like that again!

Yikes! I don't think we are that bad yet and its beginning to get cooler so maybe they will die off on their own.
