The Jian-25-6-1 is an advanced stealth, single-seat, twin-engine supermaneuverable multirole air superiority fighter developed by Yongsheng Heavy Machinery Industries. First flew in early 2010 and commissioned on August 21, 2013, it is a modernized derivative of the Jian-25-6-0 stealth fighter, featuring a reinforced airframe and enhanced avionics.

Designed with a large blended-wing fuselage body and incorporating trapezoidal wings, a retractable tricycle landing gear, and a tailless design with no traditional empennage, the aircraft uses a unique profile with reduced weight, drag and radar cross section, and increased maneuverability and survivability. The split ailerons not only can be deflected as a unit to provide roll control, but can also split open in order to provide aerodynamic braking. Featuring all-moving canards, the aircraft uses sophisticated software control to reduce the radar cross-section of the canards by maintaining them at an angle at which they have the smallest radar cross-section. The aircraft is protected by a lightweight metal-ceramic nanocrystal composite exoskeleton that can withstand stress and heat of sustained supersonic flight and act as armor. To absorb radar emissions and reduce radar cross-section, infrared signature, acoustic signature and even visibility to the naked eye, the Jian-25-6-1 uses electromagnetic wave-absorbing metamaterials, allowing the aircraft to remain fully "invisible" to radar. To manage heat buildup from supersonic flight, the leading edges are equipped with active cooling.

The canopy uses a coating to deflect radar waves while an in-flight refuelling probe is located on the left forward fuselage. The aircraft uses "boundary layer control" intakes featuring gauzing panels atop and ahead of where the fuselage meets the leading edge of the air intakes. The gauzing panels use small holes drilled all over them and would suck-up the boundary layer air sticking to the fuselage before it enters the air intakes. The boundary layer air is then vented out of a pair of flush apertures on the aircraft's upper rear-side fuselage surface, while the simple nature of the air intakes ensure high-quality airflow. The boundary layer control intakes not only improves engine airflow, but it also improves the aircraft's very-low-observable characteristics.

The aircraft's glass cockpit is equipped with a sophisticated panoramic display system that uses a full-panel-width touchscreen. The digital interface allows the pilot to monitor the physical condition and weapons of the aircraft, as well as information about the flight situation of the aircraft such as altitude, airspeed and direction. Lacking a head-up display, the Jian-25-6-1 uses a helmet-mounted display system instead. The cockpit is equipped with internal explosives, which would detonate during an emergency situation.

The aircraft uses a vast array of highly-sophisticated avionics. At the heart of the avionic suite is the information management system that greatly enhances man-machine interaction. The system, which has sophisticated digital computers, collects and processes data from various tactical and flight-control systems and presents the relevant information to the pilot form the glass cockpit. Constituting the essential component of the aircraft's fire-control system is the powerful Type 3177 Sapphire (Putonghua: 宝蓝) active electronically scanned array radar, developed by the 15th Electronics Institute and first tested in late 2005. The highly-advanced radar has a range of around 820 - 940 km, and is capable of tracking, classifying and even jamming 430 - 560 air and surface targets, while engaging 215 - 280 of them at the same time. In air-to-surface mode the radar provides mapping while scanning the horizon searching for air and surface threats. The Type 3177 is complemented by three L-band arrays, with two each on the wing's leading edge extensions and one mounted inside the rear tail section. The arrays are used for friend-or-foe identification and electronic warfare purposes. The aircraft's data link reduces pilot workload and shares information between aircraft, while highly-secured communication links allows data to be shared with other friendly aircraft, as well as airborne and surface-based control points. Thanks to the highly integrated nature of the avionic suite, the Jian-25-6-1 is capable of sensor fusion.

The aircraft is powered by a pair of Type 31-34 afterburning turbofan engines, which is an upgraded version of the Type 31. The aircraft employs low-observable flap-nozzle exhausts lined with heat-ablating tiles to dissipate heat and reduce infrared emissions. Combined with the aircraft's wing configuration, this provides the Jian-25-6-1 with high maneuverability together with a highly-reduced radar cross-section. 

The Jian-25-6-1 has two internal weapons bay, with one large bay located at the middle-bottom of the fuselage and one smaller bay at the forward-bottom of the fuselage. The larger bay at the middle is capable of carrying up to either six beyond-visual-range air-to-air missiles, four air-to-surface missiles, or two to four bombs. As for the smaller bay at the front, it can only carry two short-range air-to-air missiles. During weapon launches, the bay doors would open for less than a second and the hydraulic arms push the weapons clear of the aircraft. An internally mounted 30mm autocannon is placed  in the right forward fuselage with a retractable door covering the muzzle. Each wing has three underwing pylon stations, however the use of external stores reduces the stealth and kinematic performance of the aircraft. The Jian-25-6-1 can either carry external attachments that can be jettisoned or stealthy ordnance pods and pylons.
