Description You are a stupid, weak child, she said.

"I am the Son of Fire," he said, and he cracked open the seals like digging his fingers into a walnut shell, squeezing them out, listening to them break. The first seal, on the soles of his feet. The second seal, on the domes of his knees. The third seal, on the curves of his hips. The fourth seal, on the forge of his belly. The fifth seal, on the oasis of his throat. The sixth seal, on the crown of his head, and he wasted no time the moment he felt the great power plunge through him, a roar like the sound of a thousand soldiers, fire bursting through his every pore.

So enchanting and awesome painting! I love the zen-like feel that comes from this illustration, there's a perfect balance between dark and light and the contrast is so deep! Even though most artists are told to limit their use of black colour, it fits perfectly here and composed with red and orange tells a wonderful story about fire. By the way, I'm so surprised it has got so few recognition. I really love this kind of minimalistic paintings, my buddhist part of soul gets totally excited about this.

Thank you very much! I'm glad the fire looks good here (it plays a big role in the story, and this scene was probably one of my most favourite ones .) As for the dark areas - at least the black isn't out-of-the-pan/tube type! (thus conforming to the general rule). This is based on my impressions (and a few photographs) of a huge fire that happened in my neighbourhood during the time the story was in the works; the memory of the smoke, the soot, the flying embers was still very vivid. I guess some of it shows.

Thank you! BEST COMPLIMENT EVER

All Nancy's stories are highest quality (and I'm not saying this just because I've been lucky to illustrate two of them). This one, I would recommend even if you aren't partial to original slash. It isn't just a love story of two men. It's a story about magic and intrigue and power, about leaving and coming home; and it unfolds so beautifully.
I can wax poetic about it for a long time, though . Don't listen to me, go and read it

So I read it (finally!) and I have to say....YOU ARE SO RIGHT! It's amazing! I want to read everything from her if they are all high quality like that. Thank you!

Yay! (It is, it really is.) If I were to recommend you another one to start with (is it okay?) - please give this a try: [link] Again, not because I did the art for it (I really love "Where you have yet to go", and I regularly re-read "Unidentified Friendship Objective", and her fanfic, and... *flails*). But this one - it is visceral, and powerful, and - I think you won't regret it .
