In quiet moments, I break the seal on le petit noir, imparting in colored chalks and smudgy inks my unutterable musings, my memory traces. This little book holds the land of my interior-scape, a sanctum where my most delicate and undivulged thoughts lay in wait, their crypto-forms discipherable only by my eye.

This 4.5 x 6 inch booklet has covers made of black paint sealed perforated steel and is surrounded by chains. The functional wingnut hold the chain ends together on a brass bolt and copper rings bind the book. The inner leaf page is a open weave oriental fiber paper that has been colored with watercolor and tea. Individually hand torn deckle edges add interest to the cream white writing papers. The writing papers have one toothy side and one smooth sized side and are a mulberry composition paper.
