Description Honored to have "disposable self" recognised by the National Portrait Gallery of Australia in the "National Youth Self Portrait Prize"

Collography technique
I collaged plastic and cloth tapes, shellac, gloss car etch spray paint, car etch filler spray paint, paint, marble grit and lacquer onto a soft plastic foam board. I also etched into the surface with numerous tools and objects.

This surface is then inked and I transfer the inked impressions onto paper with a traditional printing press.

this is gorgeous, I always love seeing new work from you, I really enjoy the way your pieces always seem to present a figure materializing from a mass of forms, like creation being help within the picture frame

I really enjoy this piece. It is tactile, deliberate and beautiful. There is a certain violence to it. I think it has something to do with a carefree yet deliberate use of materials? (I hope I made sense here)

Makes perfect sense, almost my own words hehe. Thank you

This documentation does the piece absolutely no justice, especially considering the materials you used

Feels like rapid disintegration, echoed with regret.

Really love the soft variations in tone in the background - looks almost like spitbiting They really draw the eye before it goes back to the eyes. The bit of green at the top adds some warmth to it, which works well when you travel down to the colder black a the bottom. Really love the incidental marks in the plate background - they work well.

I'm finished for the year - technically speaking, the studio closes on the 30th, but really not. I'm currently trying to get photos of work from this semester and plotting how best to beg extra time in the studio during spring session, on the pretext of well, I have a photography class next door, and two very small - well - smallish - mezzotint plates to proof. 'just to proof'^^ might work. Hope so. Going to be looking forwards to senior studies - we get a lot more leeway on what we want to do and you learn photography based techniques. Now I know a lot more mediums it should be good to start combining them ^^

Yep - looking forwards to next year. And to maybe scoring some time in the next week to proof a plate if I'm lucky and Steve is in there....since I technically am not supposed to be in there, but if hes around I might be allowed
