Here we have an example of a very rare specimen. The nocturnal sewer scorpion has a very unusual mating cycle where it must find two helpless human females which it then devour one and digests her for energy in order to mate with the other. The mating process could take several hours as the scorpion will not finish until after the swallowed female has been completely digested. The remaining female is certain to have been impregnated by the end of this process.
While attempting to study this behavior further we were fortunate to acquire two local heroines for bait. However because heroines are more durable then normal females the digestion could potentially take much longer. Depending on which heroine the scorpion decides on for it's meal, it could possibly spend 20 hours or more mating with the other.
