Sept 9 2016Β  Update
Thanks for your patience everyone who was interesting in hearing the story behind these two images "Shoes of the Dead 1 & 2"

This was an event held by KEXP (a brilliant public radio station) to bring light to how many people of are found dead on the streets in one year. Rather homeless or drugs or both. I believe there was something like 300+ shoes. I wanted to post more details but I can't find the article anywhere online! I mean anywhere!
I didn't spend a lot of time here, I took a few shots and moved on. I often see events in this square of the city but this one really struck me as interesting and different. It really had a feeling..very intense. The people witnessing the event seemed very moved and somewhat like they could feel the spirits of those who used to occupy the shoes. It was a very normal overcast and cool Seattle day. Sorry I don't have more details, I'd like to know if they were the actual shoes of those whose passed...or shoes chosen to represent that.
Thanks for reading.

I love this shot....great concept by the organisers of this event. I have mentioned before that I volunteer with homeless people in my city, we serve food to maybe 60-70 people each night...sometimes they are well and sometimes not, but the main issue I see on the streets here are serious mental health issues (addiction being only a minority part) that cannot be addressed or treated because the souls involved have no permanent address. It's screwed up!

Thats great work what you do and thank you for the compliment about the shot. Yes I notice a lot of people tend to be a little lost in the head about talk about crazy things...I start to think what it would be like to be them... and I can only imagine the struggle.

What a wonderful idea................how come the richest nations in the World allow this to happen in their streets. Β

The world doesn't make sense when fairness is assumed. The top 1% of people really hog all the well being...we live in a world of animals...us. and we are far from the future. Cheers for the comment my friend.

Yes it's a sad reality...with no real solution besides well...the only solution...which seems impossible...because nothing changes

KEXP is still the best radio station I've ever heard. My favorite program is still the Saturday reggae show, Positive Vibrations with Kid Hops (although he's been there for at least 10 years, so he's not much of a "kid" any more). Β  But KEXP is a very socially-conscious station, without embracing wacky causes (yes, I know, "wacky" is in the eye of the beholder).Β  But most of the events that I ever heard them organize when I was spending a lot of time in Seattle were always positive, awareness-building efforts.

This is a really wonderful image, and I'll have a look at the other image in the morning (I'm off to sleep now), and I know I'll have a lot of questions about the event.Β  But from looking at the image, I can't tell where this is.Β  You know I love to play guess where Jesse was, when I look at your Seattle photos.

Great work, my friend!

I love KEXP so much! Such a great station and yes I've noticed their Saturday reggae Very cool.

Thanks so much for the compliment Richard! It's funny you don't know where this is...
Well I don't give a lot of clues in the image so it's understandable. Westlake Center!
