Thanks! This was actually my first attempt at doing my own vectors. Usually I use brushes and stamps but have started to really feel like I'm just cheating and it was time to try and branch out. 
The tutorial that I found was here . I did use brushes for the stars because by the time I got to that part I was pretty tired and didn't have the patience to draw them...lol.
