Description BattleTech fanart of some Clan Wolf 'Mechs.

As an old fan of the board game (back when I was familiar with the 3050 through 3058 content), it's exciting to see the universe/product continue, with new designs and new ideas! After I put aside some of my biases, I found that the fluff text for the newer stuff was still pretty good, and I appreciate that. I find the Night Wolf in particular to be quite a beautifully-shaped design. Not surprised to find out it was drawn by Alex Iglesias, of current MWO fame.

Paint schemes came from photos of minis on camospecs.com, the frontline Beta Galaxy scheme painted by God and Davion, and the second-line Iota Galaxy scheme painted by wackrabbit.

Happy Palm Sunday!

Agreed! It was a bonus to me to learn later that the MWO artist Alex I. drew that design, too. Good stuff, and definitely could learn a lot from his work.

Edit: And thanks for the Watch add! More 'Mech goodness to come soon.

There is some cool stuff in the new eras. It is far from perfect, but I feel that since the IP went to CGL they have at least tried to make it good, something I didn't felt under WizKids.

Ah, I see what you mean! There is a difference you can feel, when you mention it. Maybe it was that WizKids didn't have the kind of passion that CGL/FASA does/did. I've heard mixed responses over the whole Jihad business, but hey, gotta shake things up a little every now and then, I suppose.

Indeed, that seems to be the case. Some skeptical fans have been warming up noticeably to CGL in the last couple years. The Wars of Reaving seems to have been the turning point on that regard, with the humane way in which it shows Clan society collapsing in way.

Indeed, especially in a setting that prides in having a living and changing story spanning centuries. If it gets too stale it starts being no different from, say, Warhammer 40k, in my opinion.

Funny you should mention WoR, some people online highly recommended checking it out as a great way to get up to speed about the Clans post-3060. I got it recently and yeah, it's been a blast to read. The Clanners seemed a little... wooden... in the past (though the Clan Field Manuals were pretty good IMO). In this book, I see so much personality to the Clans, it's pretty cool!

It gave a lot more life to them, that is true. To the point that many fans were honestly heartbroken when some got snuffed after having so much development.

Hopefully such good storylines will become the rule and not the exception.
