Nathan was one of the Commanding Officers of the Combine Overwatch in City 14, before being reassigned to Nova Prospekt in City 17, then to the Citadel few weeks later, taking charge of handling the "new recruits" alongside another officer, June Schneider.Months after moving to City 17, both Nathan and June secretly defected and, unaware by the Combine Empire, formed an underground faction known by both the Resistance and Neo-Black Mesa as the 'Combine Separatists', which consists mainly Overwatch Soldiers and Elites whose brainwashing were altered either during modifications (Due to Nathan having access to the memory replacement chamber) or after being taken prisoner by the Rebels.
His radio callsign is "Sierra Actual". And like June, he has a white Mini Strider that always follows him around named "Jagter".
