I'm thrilled to see another artist use paints on panels of wood like this, and you even do some translucent stuff! It's great <3 and the idea of spraypaint worked really fuckin magically

Thanks! The spray paint was a spur of the moment thing that worked out pretty well luckily!

Ha Thanks! I gave this painting to a friend, then he left it here and went back to New York! What a dick!

i'm wondering how large these works are? and what type of paint this is, acrylics? the mark making that comes through with your strokes is so beautiful, i'm intrigued to know whether it's the board, brush, or paint that makes that possible.

It's acrylic and ink on panel. The raw wood does make a difference in the look. They're pretty small, average 12x12.

Nice!!

This is a stupid new guy question but what do you do to a board to prepare it for painting. Sorry for not googling.

It's totally NOT a stupid question, there's no right way to do it. I sand it a just little bit, then I hit it with 2 coats of Liquitex matte medium.

Then may I add another (stupid) question? What exactly is sanding? Does it add more texture to the board?

Great piece again. I am very inspired by this series of sorts. I'd like to see this sort of thing as a book cover...

Sanding is when you use sand cover paper to make something smoother. I'm glad you like these.
