I felt like drawing some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan art. So who better to draw than Vernon Fenwick? That lovable jerk from the 80s TMNT cartoon.
I've been a TMNT fan since the 80s, and my favorite incarnation of the turtles is still the 1987 cartoon. It was so creative and wacky I just loved it. Plus the supporting cast (fly Baxter, Bebop & Rocksteady, Vernon, etc) I found a lot more likable than the characters from the later cartoons.

Vernon was one of the best characters of TMNT 1987. There's just something loveable about a character created with absolutely no redeeming qualities that he becomes likeable just from the fact that he's such a jerk and such a coward so he just becomes the butt of everyone's jokes and the turtles almost feel reluctant in saving his useless carcass. And he had the perfect voice too.
Plus I like that Baxter thought he was a woman.
It's nice to see fanart of this guy. You really captured his personality perfect. Vernon is the best reporter around and he certainly looks like he knows it.
And I agree; there really is a charm in the supporting cast and a lot of the one-shot villains in this show that I find kind of lacking in the later incantations. TMNT 1987 knew it was crazy.
Also, totally not having high hopes about the TMNT movie. The director of the film made Battle Los Angeles and Wrath of the Titans and Michael Bay is producing. There's a pretty high chance this movie's gonna suck and it's gonna suck hard. Plus Byrne Thompson, April and Vernon's boss, is being played by WHOOPI GOLDBERG.

I was half-way aware of a TMNT movie..mostly because I've been rewatching the old 80's & 90's series. The Nickelodeon series is so-so for me.

I find new cartoons sloppy : people want 3D and producers sell cartoons with 3D ; result, the new series are all alike and have lost all their beautiful simplicity. This is sad. I heard they'll make a new movie, I hope it'll be good

I like all of the incarnations of TMNT, but the 2003 one is probably my favorite. The 80's series is good fun, but I think it's a little bit too goofy for me. Maybe you could draw Baxter Stockman sometime?

I saw on a website somewhere that he's gunna be in the new movie. I'm not 100% sure if that's true or not though.
It would be awesome if he were added to the new cartoon on Nickelodeon.
